We are Scouts working on our Webelos rank badge. This is the fourth year as Cub Scouts for many of us and we are having lots of fun. We meet the second Tuesday of every month.
HEY…I “SAW” THAT!
On January 5th, we started the new year out by heading to the Manchester Home Depot store to build a bird house and learn about various tools that we often see our dads (and moms!) use. Safety was our number one priority! We had a great time building the bird houses and taking turns practicing proper use of various tools.
We had some great field trips last year. We were able to take a tour of the Metro West Firehouse on Manchester and went to the Clayton Police Station. We learned about how both the fire fighters and police officers help us when we’re in trouble. In the spring, we visited the Wolf Sanctuary and learned about the different species of North American wolves. One of the boys favorite field trips was our tour of ABC 30/Fox 2 News studio. The boys were able to take part in weather forecasts and play news anchor while filming. Unfortuntely, this didn’t make the cut to the real airwaves, but they had fun doing it!
At the annual Pinewood Derby meet at Woerther last year (2012), our Den 1 boys had a stong showing in the creativity department as we took home an assortment of creativity related awards as Tiger Cubs. We’re looking to carry that momentum through the 2013 derby as Wolves as well.
