Hiking Program

Traditional Hiking Program

In March, 2008, Pack 357 kicked off its monthly hiking program.  Thanks to the dedicated support of the team leaders, this program is still very successful and going strong!  Please check the calendar for our upcoming events.

If you have a suggestion for a hike, please send us a note and we will add it to our agenda at the next planning meeting.

Here are some accounts of our adventures:

Foggy, Misty Afternoon In The Woods

We kicked off the new school year with a great hike in Rockwoods Reservation, taking the Lime Kiln loop for 3.2 miles.  Our band of merry hikers climbed the rugged terrain to the top of the ridge and enjoyed the views down into the valleys on both sides.  It was a slippery slope going back down, but everyone made it to the “magic” stream that appeared and then disappeared!  If you want to know what that means, you will have to take that hike with us again in the future!  You never know what we will see on our hikes!

Eagle Watching 2013

We had a small, dedicated group go out Saturday, January 19 to see if there were any bald eagles along the Mississippi River.  We were able to spot a huge nest and one did fly overhead while we were out along the trail.  It was very windy, but the temperatures we not sooooo bad!  Looking forward to next year’s eagle adventure!

10 Mile – Webelos Hike

Five brave people set out on Saturday, January 12 to conquer the Wilderness Trail at Meramec State Park.  It was a tough hike, everyone survived and it was a great experience!  We’ll have to do it again…maybe not very soon, though!

Bike Hiking Program

In August 2012, Pack 357 added a bike hiking program to offer even more activities for the Scouts and their families to get out and ride.  Information on how far we’ve gone and where we have been will be uploaded soon.
